Motorola PC850 Bluetooth Driver (BCM92035DGROM, BCM2035, Vid_22b8&Pid_0850)
I have the PC850 bluetooth adapter from Motorola. It came with a set of nice stereo bluetooth headphones. But, it insisted on installing a crapload of Motorola custom bluetooth software with itself.
It took me a while, but I discovered that it is possible to make Windows XP SP2 recognize the PC850 using the included default USB Bluetooth Adapter device driver.
I had to edit C:\Windows\Inf\bth.inf
Under the [Broadcom.NT.5.1] section, I added the following line:
Motorola PC850= BthUsb, USB\Vid_22b8&Pid_0850
I knew to add it there because when the dongle was first detected by windows, it came up with the generic string BCM92035DGROM. When I searched for BCM92035DGROM, it led me to some discussions about Broadcom bluetooth drivers. When I looked in the bth.inf file, I found the Broadcom section, and saw this:
[Broadcom.NT.5.1]
Blutonium BCM2035 Bluetooth 2.4 GHz Single Chip Transceiver= BthUsb, USB\VID_0A5C&PID_200A
BCM2033 Bluetooth 2.4 GHz Single Chip Transceiver= BthUsb, USB\VID_0A5C&PID_200F
Seeing the "BCM2035" and looking at the number that came up for my device turned on a light in my head, and I added the following line to the section:
Motorola PC850= BthUsb, USB\Vid_22b8&Pid_0850
The "Motorola PC850" part is arbitrary, and you could name it anything you want.
The other key to making this work is that when the system asks you to install drivers, you manually point it to the C:\Windows\Inf\ directory.
Hope this helps! I know I was scratching my head for a while over this one.
